How we can help

Boy Looking Down

The service we offer is to young people who will require long-term support to be able to keep and maintain employment. Therefore what we as an agency offer to our young people is the assistance to put together an individual package of support to enable them to continue in a job in the vocational area of their choice once they leave A Chance To Work.

Learners will be involved in what is termed as "off-the-job" training. This involves:

  • vocational courses that complement their work placement, for example catering, childcare, word-processing, numeracy and literacy.
  • non-vocational courses that help develop people's existing practical, social or communication skills for example aromatherapy, woodwork and local history.
  • individual projects based in the local community that enable learners to experience new opportunities to build confidence, self esteem and improve or maintain physical strength and stamina through, for example creative art, dance, drama, gym or swimming sessions.

All learners work towards units of competence in the OCR National Skills Profile. This is a nationally recognised vocationally based Certificate of Achievement.
